Raising our Vibration

When my daughter was about 6 or 7 years old she started to notice the world around her. She often asked questions like: “why do people hurt other people?” or “why would someone take something that wasn’t theirs?’ An answer came out of my mouth instantly and very unexpectedly: “because they forgot God”.

I wasn’t raised with any religion; as a matter of fact the word God was only used when we were upset. When I asked my mother one day: “what am I mom? One of my friend’s in school is Jewish, and another is Catholic. What am I?” My mother took a long time to answer; she was not facing me as she was cooking dinner. When she finally spoke, she said: “um…you’re a free thinker.” I am so grateful to my mother for that answer. I took it literally and never thought about religion again, but I was curious about God.

When I hear of anyone causing anyone else harm, it’s clear to me that that act was not committed with love in their hearts. When I watched a show about war crimes, it seemed so clear to me that those people could never have done any of those acts if they were conscious of the divine. When we do anything out of fear, anger, jealously, revenge or greed, in that moment we are not conscious of our oneness with everything.

When disasters happen in our world, it brings us back to our inner knowing that it happened to us as well, because all of life is interdependent. Everything in this world is connected to everything in one way or another. It’s deciding to be conscious that brings that realization to the surface. Once we make that conscious choice, our eyes and hearts open, and we see synchronicities everywhere in our lives.

The question I often hear is “how do we maintain the connection?’.  My answer is it’s a process.  First we need to have the intention of wanting that connection. Then we decide to do whatever it takes to maintain it.

Awareness is the key. Making a point of paying attention to this moment makes all the difference. Even when we notice that we have not been present, then in that moment we are present.

I’m having a class on Thursday, April 19th on ‘Raising our vibration’. It’s a two hour class to discuss and practice through meditation and exercises, how to raise our vibration. Raising our frequency is how we maintain our connection to source.

“Just like a sunbeam can’t separate itself from the sun, and a wave can’t separate itself from the ocean, we can’t separate ourselves from one another. We are all part of a vast sea of love, one indivisible divine mind.” —Marianne Williamson
